Legend has it Uzume, the Japanese goddess of dawn and revelry, saved the world when Amaterasu hid in a cave, plunging the world into darkness. While threats and prayers failed, Uzume brought the gods and humans together with laughter, music, and dance, drawing Amaterasu back into the light and reminding us that joy, love, and community make humanity worth saving.
